Dr. David Macallan is Clinical Director of Bioceutica, which provides cutting-edge individualized nutritional supplementation based on metabolic testing, low calorie energy drink replacements, a weight management program, and healthier snacks for kids. Dr. Macallan, aka “Dr. Mac” acts as a nutritional and clinical resource for the company and its customers, as well as in product development and evaluation, with the mission of taking the guesswork and confusion out of nutrition. Dr. Macallan authored “The Silhouette Solution” book and developed the hugely successful weight loss program that accompanies it.

He has spent years providing consulting services in integrative medicine, its application and implementation, as well as natural product development, formulation and marketing.He played a key role in a study for the Federal Veterans Administration about the potential usefulness of alternative medicine in the VA system.

One of the pioneers of integrative medicine, Dr. Macallan has played a role in developing or managing a wide range of facilities combining alternative and conventional medicine, and has served in both the commercial and academic sectors.His last academic management appointment was as Chief Medical Officer of Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Tempe, Arizona.He has been a Clinical Associate Professor at Southwest College and an Instructor at his alma mater, National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon.Dr. Macallan has been involved in complementary and alternative medicine for nearly 30 years.

Dr. Macallan was the editorial coordinator of IBIS software reference for alternative medicine, the first fully comprehensive professional computerized guide to CAM therapies, published in 1992 and recently updated.He served for eight years as a Trustee of National College of Naturopathic Medicine, and as Vice President of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association.

An accomplished writer and broadcaster, Dr. Macallan, a native of Scotland, previously worked as a journalist for the British Broadcasting Corporation.He received his undergraduate degree in Industrial Science from the University of Stirling, Scotland in 1976.
