I am continuously amazed by people, particularly new marketers, who think we somehow overlooked stevia when we launched QuikStiks and The Silhouette Solution. We didn’t. We consciously used sucralose because it was the safest, most effective choice at the time, familiar to our formulary and their food scientists, and we wanted to bring the products to market quickly.
Let me give you some context: remember that our target market is not the “purist” market, but middle America, that currently consumes all kinds of garbage without even bothering to read the labels. There are plenty of other companies out there catering to the purist segments. In any case, the bulk of our sweetening is from fructo-oligosaccharides (an inulin extract of chicory root).
